Pricing

$10.00 per pound hanging weight

The final cost of your beef is determined by the actual hanging weight of the animal.

  • Estimated total cost: $4,000–$5,500 average

  • Plus butcher processing fees

  • $750 non-refundable deposit required to reserve your beef

Once your animal has been harvested and weighed, you will receive an invoice for the remaining balance. Your deposit will be applied toward the final amount due.

Because every animal is unique, final hanging weights and costs will vary.

What You'll Receive

A whole beef provides the greatest value and the highest level of customization. Many of our customers purchase a whole beef each year for their family, while others split one with friends or relatives.

With a whole beef, you can customize:

  • Steak thickness

  • Roast sizes

  • Ground beef package sizes

  • Bone-in or boneless cuts

  • Soup bones, fat, and organ meats

Our team will walk you through the cutting instructions step-by-step, making the process simple and stress-free.

Yield & Freezer Space

While each animal varies, customers typically receive:

  • Approximately 400–600 pounds of packaged beef

  • Average hanging weight of approximately 600 pounds

  • Hanging weights can vary significantly depending on the size and finish of the animal

A whole beef generally requires a large chest freezer or approximately one full 24-cubic-foot upright freezer.

Pickup or Delivery

  • Pick up directly from the butcher

  • Home delivery available for an additional fee

Whole Grass-Fed & Grass-Finished Beef

  • Estimated packaged beef: 400–600 lbs

  • $1,500 non-refundable deposit

  • Remaining balance due after hanging weight is determined

  • Customer pays butcher processing fees directly to the butcher

Processing fees may include:

  • Harvest fee

  • Cut and wrap fee

  • Packaging materials

  • Disposal and handling fees

How You'll Be Charged

  1. Reserve your beef with a $1,500 deposit.

  2. We contact you with the anticipated butcher date.

  3. Your animal is harvested and weighed.

  4. Your final balance is calculated based on the hanging weight at $10.00 per pound.

  5. Your deposit is credited toward the final invoice.

  6. The butcher contacts you regarding cutting instructions.

  7. Your beef is dry-aged and processed.

  8. You pick up your order or schedule delivery.

What Is Hanging Weight?

Hanging weight is the weight of the carcass after harvest and before it is processed into individual cuts.

Our pricing is based on hanging weight, which is the industry standard when purchasing whole or half beef.

Typically:

  • Hanging weight is approximately 50–60% of live weight.

  • Packaged take-home beef averages 55–65% of hanging weight, depending on your cutting instructions and whether you choose bone-in or boneless cuts.

At Winters Ranch, you are only charged for the actual hanging weight of your animal.

The Winters Ranch Beef Process

1. We Handle Transportation

We transport your animal to the butcher, so there is nothing extra for you to coordinate.

2. Hanging Weight & Custom Cut Sheet

Once the carcass is weighed, we calculate your final balance and send you cutting instructions so you can customize your order. 

Beef Processing & Delivery Information – Winters Ranch Meats INC

The customer is responsible for paying Wiley Processing directly for both processing and butchering. Payment must be made prior to picking up your beef.

Once your beef is finished, we will arrange FREE home delivery or FREE pickup at Winters Ranch, whichever you prefer.

Beef requires approximately 18-21 days of dry aging to ensure quality, tenderness, and flavor. Once your order is ready, we will contact you to schedule delivery or pickup.

3. Dry Aging

Your beef is dry-aged for approximately 21 days to maximize tenderness and flavor.

4. Processing & Packaging

The butcher cuts, wraps, labels, and freezes your beef according to your specifications.

5. Pickup or Delivery

We coordinate pickup at the butcher or schedule home delivery so your beef arrives ready for your freezer.
